What Kind of Guarantee Do You Have?

Many products today come with some type of guarantee. Some weight loss products make statements like "Take our product and you are guaranteed to lose 20 lbs. in two months or your money back." Other products just state that their product has a one year guarantee and it will be replaced if it breaks within that year.

Some items such as an automobile state their guarantees as warranties. Certain items in the car that are covered will be fixed or replaced within a certain time period and if the car has not been driven over a specific number of miles. When we bought our house, the builder provided a warranty to repair any defects during the first year of our owning the house.

Another type of guarantees are those that are spoken by one person to another. They are often phrased as promises. "I promise to always love you," might be a statement in a wedding vow. However many of those types of promises are often broken and carry no guarantee. Perhaps the most well known of these types of promises are those that are spoken by politicians and are labeled as campaign promises. Usually they are only spoken to try to get votes to win an election and have little to no intent of ever being fulfilled.

When we move from products and the promises of individuals, we begin to think about what guarantee do we have of going to heaven. Many people list their good qualities such as hard work, good person, helpful to others, or being a good friend. In other words, we are saying that our guarantee of heaven is that we have earned it or deserve it. But when the Bible speaks of our being saved, it makes it clear that it is not from our efforts.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this

is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."

Ephesians 2:8

If we can't guarantee our going to heaven, who can? So let's consider some guarantees that have been made that have always and will always be upheld. These are all statements that have been made by Jesus that are guarantees He has made to those who have trusted Him alone to be their Savior and Lord. Here are a few of those guarantees that I hope you have accepted from our Lord.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but

have eternal life."

John 3:16

"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish,

and no one will snatch them out of my hand."

John 10:28

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And

behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

"In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I

have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I

go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will

take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."

John 14:2-3

These four statements from Jesus are but a few of the promises and guarantees that He has made to those who have trusted in Him If you are one of those individuals who have been deceived by the guarantees made by products or by politicians which often proved to be false, these guarantees extended by Jesus are yours to hold true through eternity.

If, however, you are not a person who has put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, it is not too late. He offers you the same guarantees that many around you already possess. I encourage you today to not miss what Jesus is offering you because you have been disappointed by products and people multiple times.

This week walk in the reality of truth that what Jesus has promised, He will do.
